Biography:Wang Zhihe holds a PhD in Philosophy. He was admitted to the Department of Philosophy, Peking University, in 1978. In 1985, he returned to PKU to study Western philosophy under the renowned philosopher Prof. Zhu Desheng, earning his master's degree in 1988.
From 1988 to 1998, he worked at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, serving as Deputy Editor-in-Chief ofSocial Sciences Abroad. In 1998, he pursued doctoral studies in the United States and graduated from Claremont Graduate University, under the supervision of Prof. David Ray Griffin and Dr. John B. Cobb Jr., prominent constructive postmodern thinkers.
He is currently a Research Fellow at the CenterforWhitehead Studies, Beijing Normal University–Hong Kong Baptist University United International College, and Executive Vice President of the Institute for Postmodern Development of China. He also serves as a visiting professor at the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau and many Chinese universities, an editorial board member for several international and domestic journals, a standing director of the International Ecological Development Alliance, an advisor to the Budapest Sustainable Development Research Center (Hungary), and an advisor to the Ecological Civilization Research Institute (South Korea).
With over 20 years of expertise in postmodern philosophy, process philosophy, ecological civilization, and the Second Enlightenment, he has authored, co-authored, and edited 11 books in Chinese, English, and Russian, includingDictionary of Postmodernism, The Second Enlightenment, Studies in Postmodern Philosophical Trends, Whitehead and China,andProcess and Pluralism.
He has published over 160 academic papers in Chinese and English in journals such asSocial Sciences in China, Philosophical Researches, World Philosophy, Environmental Ethics(US),Philosophy East and West(US),American Journal of Economics and Sociology, Sustainable Development Research(Poland),Balkan Journal of Philosophy(Bulgaria), andSatyam: Philosophical Journal(India).
His monographStudies in Postmodern Philosophical Trendswas the first comprehensive and systematic work on postmodern philosophical thought in China, winning the First Prize for Outstanding Achievements of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. It has been cited over 2,200 times and exerted a profound influence on Chinese academia. The Hungarian edition of his English monographProcess and Pluralismwas published in Budapest in August 2020.
