25 April,2024

Professor Musto commenced his lecture by examining the trajectory of Marx's leadership in the labor movement and his academic journey, delivering a deep analysis of the profound impact Marx had from the 19th to the 20th century. He stressed that delving into Marx's final notes is essential not only for understanding the progression of Marx's ideas but also for enhancing the comprehension of Marxist theory.

Moving forward, Professor Marcello Musto concentrated on the unpublished works and manuscripts from Marx's later years, exploring the profound concepts embedded within these precious documents. He suggested that these unpublished works and manuscripts provide a distinct vantage point for grasping Marx's thought, facilitating a more accurate understanding of Marxist theory across different historical contexts.

Employing the "Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844" as a case study, Professor Musto offered an in-depth analysis of Marx's unique perspectives on humanism and his critique of alienation during that era. When discussing Marx's final theories and their repercussions, Professor Musto underscored the significance of paying close attention to Marx's final years and thoughts in academic biographies and research endeavors. For instance, Marx's research into rural and communal property, along with his deep reflections on ancient Chinese society, offer vital insights into understanding Marx's intellectual legacy.

In conclusion, Professor Marcello Musto shared comprehensive and insightful perspectives on several pivotal subjects, such as "Marx's Critique and Enhancement of Political Economy," "Marx's Examination of Capital and Globalization," "Critique of Capitalism and Exploration of Socialism," "Investigations in History and Political Theory," "Attention to Non-Western Societies and Considerations on Socialism," "The Dialectical Synthesis of Marx's Theory and Practice," and "Marx's Theory and Environmental Issues." Professor Musto indicated that Marx's critique of political economy not only exposes the inherent contradictions within capitalism but also suggests viable avenues for its amelioration. Marx's theories continue to offer profound insights into interpreting contemporary socio-economic phenomena.
