Biography: Liu Shulin is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Marxism, Tsinghua University. He once served as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Tsinghua University, as well as Director of the Research Center for University Moral Education (a Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education) for its first and second terms, and currently acts as its Academic Advisor. He was awarded the "Outstanding Talent" of Tsinghua University in 2010 and honored as "Excellent Mentor and Benefactor to Postgraduate Students" three times.
His major research fields include Marxisttheory, ideological and political education, social trends of thought and youth studies, the theory and practice of ideological and political education, the theory and practice of world socialism, and the history of the development of Marxism.
In terms of social part-time positions, he is a member of the Evaluation Panel of the National Social Science Fund, Executive Deputy Editor-in-Chief ofLeading Journal of Ideological & Theoretical Education, Executive Director of the World Socialism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Executive Director of the China Youth Research Association. He also serves as an editorial board member of journals such asStudies in Ideological EducationandCultural Soft Power, and was once Executive Director of the National Research Society for Ideological and Political Work in Colleges and Universities and Vice President of the National Research Society for Marxism in Colleges and Universities, now serving as its Academic Advisor.
His research achievements include many monographs such asContemporary Youth and Socialist Core ValuesandSocial Trends of Thought and Youth Education, as well as 22 textbooks and edited volumes includingIdeological and Moral Cultivation(in multiple editions). He has published more than 200 academic papers and won numerous awards, including the First Prize for Excellent Teaching Achievements in Beijing (1994), the National "Five-One Project" Award (1995) forReport on China's Contemporary Human Rights Situation, the "National-level Quality Course" title for the courseIdeological and Moral Cultivation(2005), the First Prize for National Excellent Teaching Achievements (2005), and the First Prize for the 8th Excellent Achievements in Social Sciences of Higher Education by the Ministry of Education (2021).
