Biography: Zhang Guozuo is a professor and doctoral supervisor. He serves as the Chief Expert of the Central Project to Study and Develop Marxist Theory, a member of the Advisory Committee of the National Steering Committee for Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Colleges and Universities (Ministry of Education), and an expert of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He is also a council member of the Mao Zedong Thought Research Society of the Institute of Party History and Literature, Director of the China Center for Cultural Soft Power Studies, and Chief Editor ofCultural Soft Power. His previous positions include Deputy Director of the Theoretical Bureau of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the National Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science.
Prof. Zhang has long been engaged in theoretical research, education, and publicity. He has authored numerous influential works in fields such as Sinicized Marxism, cultural soft power, ideology, international relations, and philosophy of science. He has published over 320 academic papers in journals includingSocial Sciences in China, Marxist Studies, Marxism & Reality, Philosophical Researches, Qiushi, People's Daily, andGuangming Daily. He has presided over 4 major and specially commissioned projects of the National Social Science Fund. His publications include 5 monographs and 5 sets of academic book series (49 volumes) as chief editor.
He has been invited as an adjunct, visiting, or distinguished professor at Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, Wuhan University, Xiamen University, Sichuan University, and Hunan University. Prof. Zhang is the chief writer of the theoretical documentary TV seriesBeacon, the key creator and keynote speaker ofSocialism Is Cool, keynote speaker ofLearning from Xi in the New Era, academic advisor forXi's Quotes: Close to the People, and a distinguished expert for the 100 Forums onCore Valuesby the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee.
