Recently, a series of activities, with the theme of “A Tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC), the Initiative for Younger Generation to Inherit the Historical Mission”, jointly held by Chongqing Municipal Center for the Popularization of Humanities and Social Sciences Knowledge and School of Marxism in Chongqing University, was successfully carried out at Xiaozhulin in Campus A, Chongqing University. Combined with a variety of activities such as theme exhibition, knowledge contest, and theme micro video, this special series of activities aims to guide the youth league members to "learn the history of the CPC as well as the CYLC", and encourage young students to "uphold high the banner of the CYLC and always stay firm to the Party", to further deepen their understandings of the CYLC, and urges firm beliefs, fighting spirit in youth league members. Teachers and students of Chongqing University enthusiastically engaged in this activity.
The theme exhibition on the history of CYLC is divided into two parts: "Paying tribute to the lofty years - the history of CYLC" and "Striving to be the youth of the new era - advanced models," which depict the magnificent journey of unremitting struggles of CYLC since the May Fourth Movement in 1919, and salute the outstanding representatives who emerged from it. Meanwhile, through preaching the history of CYLC and staging exhibitions about it, the history of CYLC and its striving spirit were vividly shown to lecturers and students at Chongqing University.
The knowledge contest was launched simultaneously with the theme exhibition, and the content of the contest focused on five major themes such as the centennial history of CYLC, the spirit of General Secretary Xi’s important speech on July 1, and the spirit of the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC central committee. Besides, this knowledge contest not only paid attention to historical facts but also combined with current politics, attracting hundreds of students from Meishi Film Academy, School of Microelectronics and Communication Engineering, College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering and other schools to actively participate. Students scanned the QR code to participate in the contest and won rich prizes based on their scores after being introduced and guided by the staff. Many students couldn't help but exclaim as they answered the questions, "China has undergone seismic shifts over the last century. I should work hard to be the vanguard force in realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, having been born in such a peaceful era."
The theme micro video was planned and written by members of the Student Union in Communist Youth League Committee of Postgraduates from the School of Marxism, and filmed by the Propaganda Department of CPC Chongqing University Committee. And this micro video, tracing back the origins of “Minzhu” (literally democracy), which comes from the landmark of Chongqing University, “Minzhu Lake”, illustrates the history of the founding, development and growth of the CYLC since the May Fourth Movement, and calls on the younger generation of the new era to bear in mind the ardent wish of General Secretary Xi Jinping, and struggle to pave the way for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and add bricks to the construction of the motherland. The micro video was released on the official video account of Chongqing University on May 5.
This series of activities is devoted to guiding the youth league members to strengthen their Party consciousness and enhance their political awareness, showing the excellent spirit of the CYLC to further inspire the patriotism among students and enhance their sense of patriotism, and encouraging students to work hard to be the vanguard force in realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
