The 29th Red Rock Lecture Series of Our school was held online via tencent conference room on 7th Jun, 2022. The lecture was hosted by vice dean of our school prof. Lv Jin. During the lecture, Prof. Wan Xiaolong expounded the importance of scientific and technological innovation, especially in the cross-technology area, and combined with the various achievements made in the Sci. & Tech innovation industry in Chengdu-Chongqing region in recent years, by taking the Secretary-general Xi Jinping's important exposition on scientific and technological innovation as the starting point. He noted that, to build China into the world-leading Scientific and Technological Powerhouse, it is necessary for college students to cultivate and strengthen their own cross-sectional research thinking. Therefore, it is able to gather elite strengths in the talent team, in order to make them the leaders in important science and technology fields and the pioneers in emerging frontier crossover fields, then finally realize the improvement of the overall level of Sci. & Tech in China.
In addition, Prof. Wan also compared the differences between the Chengdu-Chongqing Science and Technology Innovation Center, and the science and technology innovation centers in Beijing, Shanghai and the Greater Bay Area (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area). He pointed out the dominance of the Chengdu-Chongqing Science and Technology Innovation Center in the fields of nuclear energy, aerospace, intelligent manufacturing and electronic information. In the future, Chengdu-Chongqing region will focus on the goal of building a scientific and technological innovation center with national influence, gather high-level Sci. & Tech innovation resources vigorously, and promote the layout of national strategic Sci. & Tech forces.
After the lecture, Prof. Liu Haitao from the School of Marxism of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Prof. He Yue and Prof. Yang Changfu from the School of Marxism of Chongqing University carried out active academic exchanges with Prof. Wan. Students who participated in the lecture also said that, Prof. Wan linked the Secretary-general Xi Jinping's important exposition on scientific and technological innovation with regional development, industry trends and our scientific research work. They thought Prof. Wan deeply analyzed the underlying logic of the development of information technology, and broadens their vision.
