Chief Editor Lin Huashan Delivers the 85th Red Rock Lecture Series

06 November,2025

On October 30, 2025, the 85th session of the Red Rock Lecture Series was held in Room 412, School of Marxism, Chongqing University. Chief Editor Lin Huashan from Chongqing Institute of Socialism was invited to deliver a special lecture entitled "Writing and Publishing Research Papers on the United Front Theory: A Journal Perspective". The lecture was chaired by Professor Du Junhua from the School of Marxism, and faculty and students of the school attended the event.

Lin Huashan analyzed two key links in the academic community. On the part of authors, he stressed the need to strengthen reader awareness and conduct research closely aligned with national strategies and practical needs. On the part of journals, he noted the importance of strict quality control, emphasizing originality, readability and theoretical depth. He then focused on the unity of stance and direction, pointing out that the academic community should strengthen collaboration to address problems of homogeneity, emptiness and over-abstractness in current paper writing.

Lin emphasized that topic selection is crucial. He described the United Front field as a "blue ocean" and "rich mine" for China's philosophy and social sciences research, with broad potential covering national institutions and governance, and extending to international fronts against separatism and interference. He systematically explained diversified topic selection strategies, including viewing the specific from the general, learning from history to enlighten the present, reinterpreting the old with new perspectives, revealing the general from the specific, and analyzing the domestic from the international. He pointed out that effective academic narration should center on argumentation; papers should highlight academic value with clear logic and avoid the formalistic trap of "narration for narration's sake".

Finally, Lin outlined a panoramic map of academic research for the audience through a logical framework of the unity of trend, principle and method. He stressed that researchers must grasp the trend of building China's independent knowledge system, adhere to the principle of conducting research rooted in China's realities, and master the method of improving the academic system. Only in this way can they achieve sustained progress in United Front theory research and paper publication, and contribute to the construction of China's independent knowledge system for the United Front.

After the lecture, Professor Du Junhua expressed sincere gratitude to Chief Editor Lin Huashan. The lecture was rich in content and insightful, providing both macro guidance on the unity of trend, principle and method, and practical skills in topic selection, argumentation and submission. It was of great theoretical and practical value. Faculty and students were deeply inspired, and said they would apply what they had learned to academic practice, further deepen United Front theory research, and strive to produce more high-quality achievements with profound ideas and solid academic foundations.
