On November 15, 2025, the 86th session of the Red Rock Lecture Series was held in Room 412, School of Marxism, Chongqing University. Professor Qu Jianwu, winner of the title "National Outstanding College Counselor of the Year", was invited to deliver a special lecture entitled "Striving for the Best Achievements of Contemporary Youth on the Track of Youth". The lecture was presided over by Xie Zhaoming, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Marxism, Chongqing University, and was attended by faculty and students of the school.
Professor Qu pointed out clearly at the beginning that students majoring in Marxist theory should go beyond the "purely academic" research orientation and deeply understand the dialectical unity of theory and practice. He emphasized that working for the well-being of the overwhelming majority of the people is the essential requirement of Marxism. He called on young students to integrate systematic academic training with profound concern for reality, so that theoretical learning can truly take root in practice and serve the people.
On the path of practicing theory, Professor Qu drew on his own experience and the context of the times, elaborated with typical cases at home and abroad, and criticized the "empty generalization" in research. He stressed that Marxist theory is by no means abstract talk; only by taking root in practice, serving the people, and solving real problems can it demonstrate its power of truth. He encouraged young students to foster patriotism in academic research and career choices, keep closely to the strategic needs of the country and the practical needs of the people, serve the improvement of people's livelihood with solid knowledge, promote national development through innovation and creativity, and practice Marxism by integrating knowledge with action.
At the end of the lecture, Professor Qu expressed his earnest expectations to the students of the School of Marxism: keep in mind the motto "Always reflect on yourself first", strengthen the ideological foundation through solid theoretical study, calibrate the direction of life with firm ideals and beliefs, and make correct choices in the tide of the times. He also urged students to consciously cultivate the ambition, backbone and confidence of the Chinese nation, devote themselves to the journey of the era with youthful and striving spirit, and strive to achieve the best results on the youth track of the new era.
At the closing session, Xu Kun, Deputy Dean of the School of Marxism, extended sincere gratitude to Professor Qu on behalf of the school. Xu Kun noted that the lecture was forward-looking and broad-minded, integrating profound theoretical interpretation with vivid practical cases. It not only demonstrated the height and depth of thought, but also was full of sincere humanistic care and practical warmth.
The lecture was rich in content and deeply inspiring. It not only pointed out the direction for further academic research for the faculty and students of the school, but also provided clear guidance for personal growth and planning. It is believed that this lecture will effectively encourage students of the School of Marxism to strengthen their faith, enhance theoretical literacy, and keep striving in the study and practice of Marxist theory.
